Fire: "Aude must not be a forgotten department," a resident asks François Bayrou

A fire broke out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in the Aude department. Fanned by strong winds and drought, it became, in just a few hours, the largest fire of the summer of 2025, and even of the 21st century. One woman died and seven firefighters were injured in the blaze, which affected some fifteen municipalities. Prime Minister François Bayrou and Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau are on the scene.
